Professional Painting in Historic Garden District, New Orleans

One New Creation recently completed a comprehensive exterior painting project in the Garden District, New Orleans, focusing on preparing every surface and applying long-lasting finishes. Work included full prep of siding, trim, and all wood surfaces, with sanding and scraping to remove loose paint and smooth areas for a consistent finish.

Before any painting, the house was power washed using appropriate cleaning agents to remove mold, dirt, and other contaminants. Cleaning the surfaces was a key step to ensure the new paint would adhere properly and look uniform across the entire exterior.

Where wood fiber was exposed, an oil based prime coat was applied to seal the surface and stabilize it prior to topcoats. Nail heads were spot-primed with a rust inhibiting primer to prevent staining and rust bleed through the new paint.

All damaged and failing caulking from joints was removed, then new sealant and caulking was applied at every joint and opening. This step helps protect the house from moisture intrusion and creates clean lines for painting the trim and siding.

The body and trim of the house received two coats of paint. All paint was applied by experienced painters using brush and roller rather than spray application, which allowed for careful control around trim and detailed areas and ensured even coverage.

The wood fence was prepped and painted as well, starting at the transom and gate entrance on the left side, continuing around the back of the house, and finishing at the right side elevation. For the right side elevation that faces the street, both sides of the fence were painted as required to ensure a consistent look from every viewpoint.

Iron work around the property was also restored to add the finishing touch.  All iron surfaces were scraped and prepped to remove rust and loose paint, then painted to protect the metal and improve appearance.  The same attention to surface prep was given for the iron work as for the wood siding and trim.

Throughout the job, crews followed the planned scope to keep work areas clean and to minimize disruption to the property. Using experienced painters and proper prep techniques helped maintain a professional standard of workmanship for the exterior painting project.
